There is no way to describe how beautifully imaginative this novel was. It was ten thousand fairy tales wrapped into one. Harrow created worlds that you could see and hear and smell.

I wish I could really travel to the world that smelled like clove and cinnamon and words
had power.

The only critique I could possibly give is that there was something elemental missing in the story, and I was never quite sure what it was. I also wasn’t a fan of the mirroring between the love story of Julian and Ade and then again in January and…..the boy whose name I can never remember.

All in all, this was an enjoyable, magical tale. If you need an escape, I couldn’t offer you a better one.
