Since I’ve finished Lutz’s “Spellman” series, I started in on her stand alone novels – beginning with this one. I think the writing is as strong as the Spellman’s series, but I found all three of the main characters unlikeable. It’s challenging to remain invested in a novel when there is no one to root for.

I will say that the ending was quite good and went a long way to make up for my ambivalent feelings, but it was still just so-so overall.
